Decision

With regards to The Electric Theatre: the appointment of an independent consultant to support a market testing/ Expressions of Interest exercise and the procurement of a new operator for the venue. The contact value is £36,550 and the contract awarded to Blue Horizon Ventures.

Reasons for the decision

- Being consistent with the Council’s Best Value Duty, to establish the feasibility and viability of potential operating models for the theatre, including its use as a cultural and community arts venue, alongside alternative commercial options.
- To enable the timely progression of this work in a structured and transparent way, with regard to stakeholder interest and the need to maintain confidence in the process.
- To progress with the procurement of a new operator for The Electric Theatre

Alternative options considered

Not pursue further work in relation to The Electric Theatre and to secure its future with a new operator, leaving the venue vacant and unused.
