RESOLVED:

The Elected Mayor’s nominations for appointments to Outside Bodies for 2026/2027 as set out in Appendix 1 in the report, were noted.

Reasons for decision

In accordance with the Council’s executive arrangements, the Executive is responsible for appointing representatives to Outside Bodies. This includes various trusts, companies, charities, and external organisations, provided the representation pertains to an executive function or responsibility. These appointments can be made by the Elected Mayor.

This includes both the determination of the Council’s representation on relevant Outside Bodies, including the principle and nature of such representation, and the appointment of individual Council representatives where those appointments relate to executive functions of the authority.

The appointments set out in Appendix 1 ensure that the Council is appropriately represented on those external bodies where participation supports the delivery of the Council’s executive functions, strategic objectives and partnership responsibilities within the borough.

Noting these appointments provides transparency in relation to the exercise of executive authority and ensures that the Council’s governance arrangements are implemented in accordance with the Constitution and the statutory framework governing executive decision-making.
