REASONS FOR DECISION

1. The School Governance (Constitution) (England) Regulations 2012 set out the process for the appointment of Local Authority Governors to maintained schools. The Regulations allow for the local authority to nominate a person to fill the position of Local Authority Governor. It is for the Governing Body to appoint that person if the Governing Body considers the person meets any eligibility criteria that it has set.
2. The Governor nomination in this report is a new appointment as Local Authority Governor. The nominee has been identified for the school via the charity Boards for Schools (formerly Governors for Schools), which works to improve educational outcomes for children, young people, and adult learners by strengthening governance.
3. The Governing Body supports this nomination as approved virtually on 15 June 2026 and to be endorsed at their full Governing Body meeting on 14 July 2026.
4. Andy Ehiogu is a Teacher at Lubavitch Boys Primary School and his work centres on supporting children with SEND. He grew up in Hackney and has previous experience as a Governor.
5. The Governing Body will be responsible for confirming that the nominee meets all mandatory eligibility criteria, including the absence of any disqualifying factors under Schedule 4 of the 2012 Regulations.
