This is an application made by a member of the
public (‘The Applicant’) in 2010 under Section 53 of
the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, to record a footpath to the
west of Ashurst Station, linking the station car park to the open
forest, adjacent to The New Forest public house. The application is
supported by user evidence upon which the applicant relied to
demonstrate that the application route should be recorded as a
public right of way.
Having considered the evidence submitted with the application and
additional historic documentary evidence in the context of the
relevant statutory framework, it is considered that the application
route should not be added to the Definitive Map, and that the
application should be refused.
