About

The Audit & Standards Committee has two key responsibilities: overseeing the council's governance and accountability arrangements, and ensuring high standards of conduct among its members.

In its audit role, the committee scrutinises internal and external audits, financial reports, and risk management. It ensures robust internal controls and governance are in place, making recommendations to the Executive and Council for continuous improvement. This includes overseeing financial reporting and accountability statements.

In its standards role, the committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct for councillors and co-opted members. It advises on the Member Code of Conduct, oversees its operation, and monitors member development.
