Decision

RESOLVED that a works contract is
awarded to M & J
Group (Construction & Roofing) Ltd. (company registration
number 01371473) in the sum of £449,365 for the delivery of
works to replace the Harlow Museum roof coverings.

Reasons for the decision

To support the delivery of the Council’s
corporate mission to ‘Transform our Council’ and
“Successfully deliver the largest ever Non-Housing Capital
Programme”.
 
To enable the Council to enter a formal
contract for roofing works at Harlow Museum in accordance with
Contract Standing Orders.
 
To ensure that essential works to replace the
museum roof are delivered to protect the building and the artifacts
contained therein, and to support the ongoing operation of the
museum service.

Alternative options considered

The option of proceeding by way of patch
repairs has been considered, but that approach isn’t
considered viable given the age and condition of the existing roof
coverings.
