Purpose

To support / accept the funding offer from National Heritage Lottery Fund to conduct a detailed survey of the West Hill Lift. This will be part of a preparatory work for a full funding application to NHLF for comprehensive refurbishment to the lift and the tunnel.

Decision

a. Cabinet approves a first stage application to NLHF to fund site survey and feasibility studies and costed design proposals for the West Hill Lift, the tunnel and the entry and exit to buildings. To note the first stage of application does not require any match funding from the council.

b. Agree that if the initial funding application is successful, for officers to undertake the procurement and works to conduct the condition surveys and report back prior to submitting the next stage of funding application for any capital works.
