About

The Environment and Sustainability Scrutiny Committee, composed of councillors not on the cabinet, scrutinises council policies and services related to the environment and sustainability. It holds decision-makers accountable for their actions and decisions in these areas.

The committee's remit includes reviewing the core strategy, waste and recycling, transport (including active travel), climate and ecological emergencies, and the environmental and energy efficiency standards of infrastructure proposals. It also examines the council's nature strategy, stewardship of natural resources and green spaces, integrated wetlands, water quality, and statutory flood risk management.
