Purpose

NGED are investing in a significant new
underground electricity connection at Rotherwas between the two
Welsh Water plants .The Greenway cycleway is by far the best route
for these new cables.
The vast majority of the route is owned by Herefordshire Council
and NGED are seeking the necessary permissions to install and then
maintain the new cables.
There is a small portion of the route which is owned by a third
party and leased by Herefordshire Council. NGED are seeking
permissions with the land owner, but permission is also needed from
Herefordshire Council as the tenant.
The new works will lead to some freeing up capacity at NGED’s
Hereford South area which will be good news as the business
community continues to grow at Rotherwas
