Purpose

• In March 2022, a high level review of
the Citizens Climate Assembly recommendations was undertaken in
consultation with teams across the council to understand the work
that is already being delivered by the council that contributes
towards the aims of the Assembly.
• Officers provided information relevant to the proposals made
by the Assembly and informed how work could be taken forward in
support of the aims of the recommendations from the Assembly. In
some cases this was a continuation of existing projects whilst in
others, new projects will need to be fully developed and costed
up.
• A Cabinet workshop was held to prioritise the proposed
projects
• On 28th of April 2022 Cabinet approved the development
business cases for each of the prioritised projects
• The development of the business cases has been undertaken
with the council’s Project Management Office, overseen by a
dedicated project board and has been reviewed by both the relevant
service area and Cabinet Member.
• To date the first tranche of Climate Assembly programme as
prioritised by Cabinet has been successfully developed, mobilised
and is currently underway.
• This proposal is to allocate £153,700 to undertake a
review of the current home to school transport service, to identify
trends, issues, risks, projected future demand and categorised
opportunities to change and improve and decarbonise the service
offering.
