Purpose
To co-produce a strategic approach to
identify, assess and meet the needs of children and young people
(aged 0-25) with special educational needs and/or disability
(SEND).
The strategy will outline what is known about the needs of children
and young people with SEND, how the council will listen and respond
to those needs, in order to improve the lives of children, young
people and families.
The aim of the SEND strategy is to improve the educational health
and emotional wellbeing outcomes for all of Herefordshire's
children and young people with SEND and achieve improvements in
their provision.
Decision
That:
a)
The Cabinet member for Children and Families approves
the SEND strategy and to agree to receive an annual update report
on progress against the strategy; and
b)
The cabinet member for Children and Young people
authorises the Corporate Director for Children and Young People to
implement the strategy across the service.
