Decision

RESOLVED the Cabinet:

1. Noted the ongoing work being undertaken by Hertsmere Borough Council and its partners to prevent Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) across the borough and county.
2. Approved the one-off allocation of up to £25,000 to ‘HerFuture’ in support of initiatives that contribute to the prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls.

Reasons for decision

The recommendations support the Council's ongoing commitment to addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). 

The proposed contribution to the emerging HerFuture Hertfordshire Legacy Fund will secure Hertsmere’s place as a Founding Partner of the initiative. This will support activities that improve opportunities for women and girls and help to prevent gender-based violence and reduce its impacts in Hertfordshire.

Alternative Options Considered

Cabinet could choose not to approve the proposed £25,000 contribution to HerFuture. However, the emerging partnership provides an opportunity for the Council to strengthen its leadership role within the county in tackling VAWG.  Hertsmere is the first Hertfordshire council to formally consider making this contribution.
