RESOLVED
To formally adopt the buildings identified in
Appendix 1n as locally listed buildings as part of an updated
Horsham Town Local List
REASONS
To ensure that buildings of local historical
and architectural significance are protected for the future. To
recognise buildings identified as being of heritage interest by the
local community.
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED BUT REJECTED AS
IDENTIFIED IN THE REPORT
The option of not updating the existing
Horsham Town Local List was considered but rejected. The
maintenance and production of a local list is considered to be best
practice by ensuring a consistent, transparent and accountable way
of identifying and protecting buildings of local architectural or
historic interest. Historic England advises that local lists play
an essential role in building and reinforcing a sense of local
character and distinctiveness in the historic environment.
