Content
To approve the submission of an application to
the Secretary of State for consent under section 25 of the Local
Government Act 1988; and
Subject to the consent of the Secretary of
State, to approve the disposal of the properties detailed in the
exempt appendix to Horsham District Homes (Holdings) Limited by way
of five year leases at affordable
rents.
Reasons for the decision
The Council provides affordable housing
through Horsham District Homes (Holdings) Limited, a subsidiary of
Horsham District Homes Limited which is wholly owned by Horsham
District Council.
The Council may require the consent of the
Secretary of State in relation to the provision of a gratuitous
benefit as the lease to the Council’s housing company is at a
sub-market rent. The Council will also rely on a general consent
under section 32 of the Housing Act 1985, if
and when required.
Alternative options considered
None. The properties have been acquired
in order to provide homes at affordable
rents. The Council owns a company which it uses as a vehicle
through which to deliver affordable homes.
