To approve the purchase of 1 x electric
premises maintenance
vehicle.
To approve the award of the required purchase
contract to the
supplier selected pursuant to the relevant
framework
agreement (‘the contract’).
To finalise the terms and conditions of and
enter into the
contract in consultation with the Head of
Legal and Democratic
Services.
Reasons for the decision
The existing vehicle is now due for
replacement as it has come
to the end of its useful economic life. The
vehicle is 18 years
old. Because of its age parts are getting hard
to get.
The cost of the vehicle is £27,639.25
plus VAT and Road Fund
Licence and First Registration Fee.
Alternative options considered
Purchasing a diesel / HVO vehicle has been
explored but this
does not meet with the Council's aspiration to
be carbon neutral
by 2030 and electric vehicles of this size
have the range
required.
Hiring a van at a cost of £390 per week
was rejected on cost
grounds.
To carry on using the current vehicle and risk
overspending on
the budget for maintenance and also risk not
being able to get
parts.
