To approve the purchase of 2 x electric
Parking Services vehicles.
 
To approve the award of the required purchase
contracts to the supplier selected pursuant to the relevant
framework agreement (‘the contracts’).
 
To finalise the terms and conditions of and
enter into the contracts in consultation with the Head of Legal and
Democratic Services.

Reasons for the decision

The existing vehicles are now due for
replacement as they have come to the end of their useful economic
life. The vehicles are both 12 years old. Because of their age
parts are getting hard to get.
 
The cost of the two vehicles is
£53,515.50 plus VAT and Road Fund Licence and First
Registration Fee.

Alternative options considered

Purchasing diesel / HVO vehicles has been
explored but this does not meet with the Council's aspiration to be
carbon neutral by 2030 and electric vehicles of this size have the
range required. The running costs of the electric vehicles are
cheaper
than the diesel / HVO equivalent.
 
Hiring vans at a cost of £390 per week
per vehicle was rejected on cost grounds.
To carry on using the current vehicles and
risk overspending on the budget for maintenance and also risk not
being able to get parts.
