RESOLVED

i)
The Discretionary Rate Relief Policy 2026/27 be approved; and

ii)
To note that the Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources has
authority to determine applications for discretionary rate
relief.

REASONS

Discretionary rate relief is operated by the
Council as an annual scheme and therefore requires an annual review
and approval.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED BUT REJECTED AS
IDENTIFIED IN THE REPORT

The Council has the authority to reduce the
amount of financial support awarded through this scheme. However,
this course of action was rejected because of the need to continue
to support charities and not for profit organisations during this
time of economic uncertainty.
