RESOLVED
 
i)              
The Carbon Reduction Plan (November 2024 – March 2030) which
forms an appendix to this report; be approved.

 
ii)             
That amendments and annual updates to the Plan be delegated to the
Director of Communities in consultation with the Cabinet Member for
Climate Action and Nature Recovery;
 
iii)            
Subject to Full Council agreeing the inclusion of a capital budget
of £1.535m in the 2025/26 capital programme for the works
identified in paragraph 6.1 of this report, to delegate the
programming and phasing of the works to the Director of Resources
in consultation with the relevant Cabinet Member.
 
REASON
 
i)              
The Carbon Reduction Plan contains the actions for the Council to
reach its net zero targets and showing leadership in tackling
climate change;

 
ii)             
Allows amendments to the Plan as required;
 
iii)            
Ensures that budget is available to implement the actions in the
Carbon Reduction Plan for 2025/26.
 
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED BUT REJECTED AS
IDENTIFIED IN THE REPORT
 
The main alternative action was for the action
plan to cover a shorter timeframe; three-years for example.
However, a five-year time frame with an annual update gives a
clearer indication of how the Council intends to reach the net zero
target for its direct emissions by 2030.
