RECOMMENDED TO
COUNCIL

i)
To approve the domestic fee schedule contained in Appendix A to
this report with effect from 1 January 2025; and

ii)
To approve the commercial fee schedules contained in exempt
Appendix B and exempt Appendix C to this report with effect from 1
January 2025.

REASON

i)
The additional income resulting from the fee increase will be used
to offset increased operational costs and inflationary pressures
which has affected income.

ii)
To allow for temporary agency staffing costs, since some surveyors
have now left the team.

iii)
In April 2024 the Building Safety Regulator introduced new
requirements for competent validation and legal/procedural changes,
all of which require additional resource, training, supervision and
specialism, which increase the cost of the service. Page 227 Agenda
Item 11

iv)
Associated ongoing registration/licensing costs to carry out
Building Safety regulated activities such as assessing plans and
inspecting. This includes for all buildings from domestic premises
to complex, high-risk, multi-use structures.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED BUT REJECTED AS
IDENTIFIED IN THE REPORT

Maintaining the current fees and charges would
result in loss of financial income.
