About

The Standards Committee, which ceased operation on 22nd May 2018, was responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct among local councillors. Its functions have been transferred to the Audit and Governance Committee.

The Audit and Governance Committee now considers complaints that a councillor may have breached the Members' Code of Conduct. Complaints must be submitted in writing to the Monitoring Officer and should specifically relate to a member's behaviour as defined by the Code of Conduct. Anonymous complaints are not typically considered. This committee does not handle general council complaints, which should follow the council's formal complaints process.
