Purpose
In line with DfE statutory guidance
(Prescribed Alterations) the Local Authority as the 'decision
maker' is required to consider the Governing Body's proposed
changes to Gunnersbury Catholic School and either approve or reject
the proposal, or approve the proposal with modifications.
Content
Cabinet noted:
a)
the proposal to become a co-educational school from September 2025
had been received from Gunnersbury Catholic School.
b)
the Local Authority as the decision maker in accordance with DfE
statutory guidance on prescribed alterations, as in this case where
the proposer was the Governing Body of a Voluntary Aided
school.
In reaching its decision the Cabinet:
1.
Considered the results of the pre-statutory consultation conducted
by Gunnersbury Catholic School, which took place between the period
of 20 November 2023 to 18 December 2023 as summarised in Appendix 6
and referenced in Section 3.3 of the submitted report.
2.
Considered the responses received during the statutory
representation period which took place between the period of 10
January 2024 to 7 February 2024 as summarised in Appendix 7 and
referenced in Section 3.4 of the submitted report.
3.
Rejected the Gunnersbury Catholic School’s proposal to change
to a fully co-educational (mixed gender) school.
