Purpose

The Council owns and operates several public
car parks in Ipswich, including Portman Road C Car Park, Portman
Road Ipswich IP1 2BP.
 
70 bays within the car park will need to be
closed to carry out repair works and to fill in potholes within the
car park. The works will start on Wednesday 10 September and finish
on Thursday 11 September. Preparation for the closure of these bays
will commence on the evening of the 9th of September.
 
Sites are sequenced to minimise overlap and
maximise resource efficiency.
Traffic-management measures comply with
Chapter 8 guidance. Works off the carriageway will avoid
unnecessary signing where safe clearances and pedestrian widths can
be maintained.
 
Communication with car-park users is
essential; marshals will provide real-time guidance.

Decision

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich
Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to suspend
70 bays in Portman Road C Car Park between Wednesday
10th September 2025 until Thursday 11th September 2025
to allow for repair works. Preparation for the closure of these
bays will commence on the evening of the 9th of September.
 
Reason:
To allow for the area of the car park to be
repaired safely.
