Purpose

The Council is
the accountable body for the Ipswich Town Deal - £25m of
government funding for the following 9 projects to improve
Ipswich:

All the detailed
business cases have been signed off and the Ministry for Housing
and Local Government has confirmed the cancellation of the Yacht
Academy and Pauls Silo projects.
 
The Council will
need to enter into agreements, procure goods and services to enable
the delivery of these projects. In some cases, these matters will
constitute Key Decisions.
These decisions will be ad-hoc in nature and could be taken by
either by the Senior Officer, Portfolio Holder or Executive as
necessary.
 
This decision is
in relation to the Pedestrian Cycle Bridge project.

Decision

That the Portfolio
Holder for Place authorises the Assistant Director for Place, in
consultation with the Section 151 Officer, and Head of Legal
Services, to enter into a grant agreement for £1,310,000 with
Suffolk County Council for the provision of a new pedestrian and
cycle route, utilising either a refurbished or new bridge to enable
pedestrians or cyclists to access the eastern side of the island
site, Ipswich, on such terms as he sees fit.
 
Reason: To enable the agreed Towns Fund
money to be paid and the Council to secure improved connectivity to
the Island Site Enterprise Zone with a view to supporting economic
growth and an improved town centre.
