Purpose

Every year local authorities are required to
undertake a review of their scheme to ensure it still meets local
needs as well as financial impacts. Any potential changes require
full consultation with residents, and the final decision made at
Full Council before the budget setting, for implementation on the 1
April every year for the statutory provisions to be
undertaken.

Content

That Cabinet recommends to Full
Council adoption of the proposed scheme (as detailed at Appendix
4). There is no proposal to change the current scheme bar making
six small changes, detailed in paragraph 32 of the report, to
better align with national changes and Universal Credit
administration.
 
That Cabinet recommends to Full
Council that it continues the current exceptional hardship policy
(as detailed at Appendix 5).
