Purpose

Approval to make improvements
to Kensington Memorial Park including replacement of existing park
buildings with a new consolidated building to house park
facilities, provision of outdoor fitness equipment, improvements to
sport facilities, accessibility improvements and improvements to
the children’s playground. The new building will improve upon
existing facilities and provide a net saving in carbon
emissions.
All proposals were supported by
a majority of respondents at public consultation in
August/September 2021 and they will be developed alongside the
local community using a codesign approach.
Budget: £1,120k
(including £50k contingency).

Decision

That
the Lead Member approved the contract to be awarded to Borras
Construction Limited company registration number 1520021 at a cost
of £1,107,686.01 and that a further contingency amount of
£20,000 is approved to allow for further contract variations,
making a total cost of £1,127,686.01 (£1,353,223 with
VAT). The budget for the project is £1,206,000
(£1,447,200 with VAT) the remaining budget amount will be
used for the consultancy fees and hiring temporary welfare
facilities for the park keeper and a temporary kiosk pod while the
works take place.
