Purpose

The Council has established the
Our Cultural Heart Fund community grant scheme, linked to the wider
Our Cultural Heart project, to support the delivery of community
projects that are aligned to the Council’s objectives for the
project, including

culture and heritage
·      
health and wellbeing
·      
inclusion and diversity.
 
The Our Cultural Heart Fund
will operate over a number of years aligned with the phases of the
Cultural Heart project. One Community Foundation has been appointed
to oversee the community grant programme on behalf of the Council.
Applications will be determined by a panel including Council, One
Community and contractor representatives.
 
The option not to proceed with
the Our Cultural Heart Fund was considered but rejected by officers
as this would significantly reduce the opportunity to support
community projects that will complement and add value to the
physical regeneration of the town centre.

The decision is to

establish the Our Cultural Heart Fund community
grant scheme through allocating a sum of up to £310,389 to
fund the grant scheme and its management for the first phase of the
project
·      
enter into the related legal agreement with One
Community Foundation to administer the fund.
