September 26, 2024 Service Director - Highways & Streetscene (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
This project is
part of the Playable Spaces strategy and is located in the popular
Destination Park, Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury West.
The project is to
improve and refurbish the existing public play area. Improvements
include new equipment, accessible & sensory equipment,
accessible safety surfacing and seating, along with sustainable
refurbishments of existing equipment.
Due to the
popularity of this park, and the local need for high quality public
outdoor spaces to support both physical and mental health, we
applied for external funding to support the existing budget
allocated from Playable Spaces.
We were
successfully awarded £100,000 external funding from the FCC
communities programme, which has allowed a total budget of
£250,000 for the project.
The contract has
recently gone through the tender and procurement process with the
KMC Procurement team. A total of 5 contractors quoted for the work
and Pennine Playgrounds were the winning contractor based on price
and quality.
The project value
of this scheme is £250,000 and due to the size, scope and
timeframe the project is being procured through the Councils
procurement and tender process as capacity isn’t available
internally.
