Purpose

This report sets out proposals to establish a
temporary Children’s Social Care Improvement Programme
Manager post (Grade Q) for two years following the outcome of the
Ofsted inspection of Children’s Social Care. 

Decision

The Executive Director (Children’s
Services) hereby agrees to:-
 
a)       The temporary
establishment of a Children’s Social Care Improvement
Programme Manager post (Grade Q) for two years following the
outcome of the Ofsted inspection of Children’s Social Care;
and,
b)       Commence an
immediate internal recruitment process within Children’s
Services to offer the opportunity on a secondment basis.

Alternative options considered

The option to not establish a dedicated
Children’s Social Care Improvement Programme Manager post has
been considered and rejected due to the risk of practice not
improving without this essential intervention.
