June 30, 2025 Interim Executive Director Children's Servics (Hilary Brooks) (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The Council has a statutory duty to plan
school places effectively to ensure it delivers sufficient places
within a reasonable distance from where people live.
The Halsnead Garden Village development near
the town of Whiston is expected to have a significant impact on
pupil places for both the Early Years and Primary school sectors in
the Whiston and Cronton ward. A need for an additional 65 Early
Years places in this ward was identified as part of the
development.
The purpose of the report is to highlight the
work being undertaken to address Early Years sufficiency in
Cronton, and to seek approval to fund an extension to the Nursery
at Holy Family Catholic Primary School & Nursery.
Decision
Approve the allocation of Section 106 funding
towards 15 additional nursery places at Holy Family Catholic
Primary School & Nursery, Hall Lane, Cronton, Widnes WA8
5DW.
Alternative options considered
None.
