Purpose

To establish seven new permanent posts within
the Environmental Health Service following approval in June 2025
(report ref: C&N452025) to create the required
capacity needed to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of
the Council’s Environmental Enforcement service including an
in-house team to tackle environmental crime issues such as
littering and dog fouling control.
 

Decision

The Executive Director (Communities and Neighbourhoods) in consultation with the
Executive Director (Resources)
approved: -

The establishment of one permanent Senior
Environmental Enforcement Officer at grade L/M and the assimilation
of the existing, temporary Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer
into the post.
The establishment of five permanent FTE
Environmental Enforcement Officers at grade H and ring-fencing the
post to existing officers in the Environmental Health
service;
The establishment of one permanent Environmental
Enforcement Assistant at grade E;
The disestablishment of one temporary Senior
Environmental Enforcement Officer at grade L/M;
The disestablishment of three temporary
Environmental Enforcement Officer posts at grade H; and
Undertake recruitment in line with the
Council’s ‘Recruitment Policy’.
