Purpose

The purpose of this report is to seek approval
to confirm the appropriation of Land to the South of Cherryfield
Drive, Kirkby for housing development purposes as part of the
Housing Land Disposal Programme (HLDP) Phase 3.

Decision

The Executive Director (Regeneration and
Economic Development), in consultation with the Cabinet Member for
Regeneration and Economic Development hereby declares;
 
(i)       That the area of
land shown edged red on the 2025 Appropriation Plan at Appendix C
and described within the report is no longer required for the
purposes of which it is held; and
 
(ii)       Confirms the
appropriation of the land for the development of housing pursuant
to Section 122 Local Government Act 1972. 

Alternative options considered

The Council could choose not to confirm the
appropriation of the land for housing purposes.  However, this could impact plot sales as the
approved residential development scheme (24/00068/FUL) would be
delivered in accordance with an earlier appropriation process
undertaken in 2011.
