Creation of a Therapeutic Intervention Practitioner post
August 12, 2025 Interim Executive Director Childrens (Hilary Brooks) and Executive Director Resources (Stephan Van Arendsen) (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The purpose of the report is to progress an
agreed permanent investment to establish a Therapeutic Intervention
Practitioner post to provide additional capacity to the Shield team
to focus on developing Children Social Care’s intervention
response towards children who display harmful sexual behaviour.
Decision
The Executive Director of
Children’s Services and the Executive Director of Resources
are recommended to agree to the creation of a
Therapeutic Intervention Practitioner post, grade K, within the
Shield Team.
Alternative options considered
The alternative option of doing nothing was
considered and rejected on the basis that additional capacity is
required to prevent children coming into care or being sentenced to
custodial sentences due to the risk posed by harmful sexual
behaviour.
