Purpose

To seek approval for capital grant funding to
support the creation of 25 FTE additional childcare places to
support the implementation of the Early Years Funded Entitlement
expansion within Knowsley.

Decision

The Interim Executive Director (Childrens Services) in
consultation with Executive Director (Resources) is requested to
approve capital grant funding to support the creation of 25 FTE
additional childcare places to support the
implementation of the Early Years Funded Entitlement
expansion within
Knowsley.

Alternative options considered

To not support the development of the capital
works would have a detrimental impact on the Council’s
ability to provide childcare sufficiency duty and limit the
opportunities for working parents.
