Purpose

To approve the utilisation of
£0.160m of funding and approve the inclusion of the project
on the Environmental Sustainability Service 2025/2026 Capital
Programme.
 

Decision

That
the Executive Director of Communities and
Neighbourhoods and The Executive Director of Regeneration and
Economic Development in consultation with the Cabinet Member for
Communities and Neighbourhoods and the Cabinet Member for
Regeneration and Economic Development:-
 

a)   
As part of the 2025/26
budget setting process the Council set aside one-off resources for
unavoidable commitments arising from cost and demand pressures.
£0.160m has been allocated to fund the replacement for the
methane stripping system at Stadt Moers Park. This report is to
approve the utilisation of this funding;
 
Approve
the inclusion of the “Stadt Moers Park Methane Stripping
System” on the Environmental Sustainability Service
2025/2026

Alternative options considered

There are different options
available for the methane stripping system. Either making changes
to the existing system to prolong its life or installing a new
different type of system.
 
There is another option of
doing nothing and continuing with the system we have. However, this
will likely require higher maintenance costs and regular fixes to
make sure the system is running, as have been seen in the last 18
months.
