Purpose

The purpose of this report is to seek approval, in accordance with Contract Procedure Rule 6.5.2 (iv) (Schedule 1) to award a contract to Futurebuild UK Ltd for the internal fit out works to 5-8 Cavendish Walk, Huyton.  A compliant procurement exercise has been undertaken in accordance with Contract Procedure Rule 6, and the winning bidder has been identified as providing the most economically advantageous offer to the Council.

Decision

The Director Development and Infrastructure is recommended, in accordance with Contract Procedure Rule 6.5.2 (iv) (Schedule 1), to:

(i)             Approve the award of a contract to Futurebuild UK Ltd, internal fit out works to 5-8 Cavendish Walk, Huyton.

(ii)            Authorise legal Services to make the necessary arrangements for the issue of the relevant contract documentation.

Alternative options considered

Do Nothing: This option was considered and rejected, as it would not assist in bringing a vacant building back into use, helping to deliver a modern library and community hub, and contributing to increased footfall within the town centre. Without intervention the building would remain underutilised and unable to meet current community needs.
