Purpose
To approve the anticipated expenditure of the
Safer Streets 5 Grant which has been provided by the Home Office
via the Office of the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner.
This will enable the Crime and Communities team and Town Centre
Management to work with partners in Knowsley including Merseyside
Police, Change, Grow, Live (GCL), Merseyside Youth Association
(MYA) and Prescot Business Club to deliver a range of interventions
in Prescot Town Centre.
Decision
The Executive Director (Communities and
Neighbourhoods) and in consultation with the Cabinet Member
(Communities and Neighbourhoods) hereby:
a) Note the acceptance
of external grant funding from the Home Office of £0.264m in
relation to Safer Streets Capital and Revenue expenditure (as shown
in Appendix B).
b) Approve the
utilisation of Safer Streets grant funding to be spent in
accordance with the grant funding bid submission for use on the
Prescot Town Centre area; and
c) Approve that the
Capital expenditure elements of the external grant funding secured
are to be added to the Council’s Capital Programme.
Alternative options considered
Not accepting the grant would result in the
Council rejecting £0.264m of funding.
