Purpose
The purpose of this report is to seek approval to
procure external consultancy services todevelop a housing strategy
for residents with learning disabilities and/or autism in Cheshire
and Merseyside.
The reason for this decision is that, as a
subregion, we currently have above average numbers of people with a
learning disability in receipt of long-term support, and above
national average numbers of people having their housing need met
through shared 24hr Supported Living. Accommodation options across
the sub-region are limited, with the market being dominated by 24hr
shared housing.
We need to get smarter about looking at exactly what
the need is and how it can be met.We require expert housing advice
to assist us in examining how we can deliver best practice models
of housing delivery for residents with learning disabilities and/or
autism and those with complex care needs, both now and in the
future, so that we can strategically plan for future provision.
Decision
That, in accordance with
Contract Procedure Rule 5.3.1, external consultancy services be
procured to develop a housing strategy for residents with learning
disabilities and/or autism in Cheshire and Merseyside.
