Full council record

Purpose

To provide an update regarding the ongoing problems
relating to Heavy Goods Vehicles contravening the existing 7.5
Tonne Weight Limit Restrictions on
Shevington’s Lane and
Headbolt Lane, Kirkby, and to seek approval to proceed with any
procurement processes necessary, to enable the purchase of CCTV /
ANPR Cameras, which will facilitate the capture of relevant vehicle
data and provide a future deterrent to persistent
offenders.

Decision

Authorisation is given to commence a
procurement process, the purpose of which will be to purchase CCTV
/ ANPR Cameras using part of the UK Shared Prosperity
Funding allocation
for Tower Hill.

Alternative options considered

Do
Nothing: This will result in further
complaints from residents and Shevington Ward Councillors, who have
already raised numerous concerns, over a prolonged period of time, regarding the inappropriate and
illegal use of Shevington’s Lane and Headbolt Lane by Heavy Goods Vehicles.  Continued Police enforcement is not possible, so
it is necessary to consider alternative, more sustainable solutions
to the ongoing problems.
