Purpose
To consider the objection received to the proposed traffic calming measures on Court Hey Avenue and Childwall Lane, Roby and the response given. After considering the objections, determine whether the proposal is acceptable and the highway safety scheme can be implemented.
Decision
The Executive Director (Place) in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development;
(a) note the objection received to the proposed traffic calming measures on Court Hey Avenue and Childwall Lane in Roby, located as per the drawings numbered 60761756-ACM-CHA-XX-DR-HW-0101 D01 and 60761756-ACM-CHA-XX-DR-HW-0102 D01, and the response to the objection as set out in section 5 of the report; and
(b) in view of the position set out in section 5 of the report, approve the introduction of the highway safety scheme on Court Hey Avenue and Childwall Lane as part of the 2026/27 Highway Capital Delivery Programme.
Alternative options considered
Not to introduce the traffic calming was considered and rejected, as it would not decrease traffic speeds that would improve pedestrian safety, therefore the council would continue to receive enquiries relating to pedestrian accessibility in the area.
