Purpose

The Working Well programme has shown, over the past two years of increased resource, to be delivering a successful service promoting staff health and wellbeing into Knowsley businesses. As well as this the programme has significant impact for the voluntary and community sector, social value outputs and outcomes for people often excluded from the job market. The additional funding will allow further growth for the programme and additional positive benefits for health and wellbeing and reduction of health inequalities across the borough.

Decision

The Director of Public Health agrees to:-

(a)      fund the additional Business Engagement Manager (Working Well) for Q4 2026/27 at a cost of £10,000; and

(b)      one year (2027/28) continuation of the temporary uplift of £40,000 to the Working Well Service Led Agreement

Alternative options considered

To stop the additional funding, returning to one sole Business Engagement Manager (Working Well). This was rejected because this will substantially reduce the offer for businesses and restrict engagement and positive outcomes for those businesses already engaged.
