Purpose

This report seeks permission to apply the automatic route to processing applications to renew Blue Badge parking permits for people aged 67 years old or older. 

The report also seeks permission to launch a six-month trial of closing applications where appropriate supporting evidence has not been provided in the original application. 

Decision

That the Executive Director Adult Social Care, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, to:

             (i)         to apply the automatic route to processing applications to renew Blue Badge parking permits for people aged 67 years old or older; and

            (ii)         Launch a six-month trial of closing applications where appropriate supporting evidence has not been provided in the original application.

Alternative options considered

Do Nothing:

This option was considered and rejected as the waiting times for further assessments significantly exceeds the Councill’s target of 12 weeks.
