The Secure Accommodation Panel reviews the placement of children and young people in secure accommodation under the Children Act 1989. It ensures that the criteria for keeping a young person in secure accommodation continue to apply.
The panel conducts formal reviews after one and three months of placement. It comprises an elected Member, an Independent Social Work Manager, and an independent person. The child, their parents, social worker, and other relevant individuals attend the panel, which is held at the secure unit.
