Purpose
The Somerleyton Road development is a major
residential-led, mixed use regeneration scheme in the centre of
Brixton. Planning Permission was obtained in 2017, to deliver new
homes and a range of commercial uses, including workspace, a new
theatre and other non-residential uses. Phase 1 of the development
was successfully completed in February 2022 and includes the
construction of the new Brixton House Theatre and the refurbishment
of the locally listed Carlton Mansions.
This report seeks approval to appoint Trowers & Hamlins as
external legal advisors for the delivery of Phase 2 Somerleyton
Road. This will be for a contract sum of £147,716 including
contingencies and the contract is expected to run until June 2025,
at which point a preferred bidder will have been chosen and
Development Agreement signed.
Decision
1.
To award the contract for external legal services on Somerleyton
Road Phase 2 to Trowers & Hamlins, for a value of
£147,716, to cover works up until the appointment of a
preferred bidder and subsequent signing of a Development Agreement.
The contract is expected to be in place until mid-2025.
