Purpose
The Greater London Authority (GLA) launched
the Creative Enterprise Zone Sustainability Capital Grant Programme
in September 2022. The aim of the programme is to improve
environmental performance of creative businesses, workspaces,
artists’ studios and wider cultural infrastructure and to
increase the provision or suitability of affordable creative
workspace within accredited Creative Enterprise Zones. Lambeth
submitted a successful application securing a £200,000 grant
to help enable a low carbon retrofit and expansion of Raw Material
Music and Media’s creative hub, in Brixton’s Creative
Enterprise Zone. Lambeth has also made a commitment to invest
£230,000 capital grant funding through the Future Workspace
Fund, which was signed off by a previous decision report, Future
Workspace Fund Second Round CMDDR (February 2023). This report
seeks to secure approval to sign and enter the grant agreement with
the GLA to redevelop Raw Material’s creative workspace, to
help close the funding gap to enable the project to be
completed.
