Purpose

The decision being requested seeks agreement
for Lambeth to nominate a role to become the Director of
‘Southeast London Music Education Ltd’. and result in
Lambeth Music Service becoming a ‘Principal Partner’
and retain its grant funding and its strategic functions.

The decision will be to:

• Approve Lambeth Council to become a member of the
Company
• Appoint a role as Director
• Approve the Corporate Director to finalise and agree the
Partnership Agreement

Decision

1.        
To approve the Council’s membership of SEL
Music Education Limited.

 

2.        
To appoint the Assistant Director of Education and
Learning as the Council’s director on the board of SEL Music
Education Limited once the Council has entered into a Partnership
Agreement between the members of SEL Music Education Limited. This
agreement is expected to be signed before the end of 2024,
following which the Council will appoint its director.
 

3.        
The Cabinet Member for Children and Families may
appoint a replacement Assistant Director of Education and Learning
(or equivalent post) in the event that the current Assistant
Director of Education and Learning leaves the Council’s
employ or is otherwise unable or unwilling to continue as
director.
 

4.        
To delegate to the Assistant Director of Education
and Learning power to negotiate and agree the Partnership Agreement
to be entered into between the members of SEL Music Education
Limited.
