The Cabinet is responsible for carrying out the Council’s executive functions, which include most of the Council's day-to-day decision-making powers. It is composed of the Leader of the Council and up to nine other appointed councillors.
The Cabinet proposes the annual revenue budget, capital programme, treasury management policy, and council tax levels, consulting with the Budget and Performance Panel and Overview and Scrutiny Committee before submitting proposals to Full Council. It also approves non-development plan documents and is responsible for promoting the economic, social, and environmental well-being of the area. The Cabinet reports its proceedings and key decisions to Full Council.
