The Director of City Development has approved an award of
£315,000 rates relief to Schneider Electric (SE) to secure a
£6m-£7m investment in the city. This will safeguard 555
jobs and create 110 new jobs in Leeds by 2032. Furthermore, it will
safeguard an annual rates income for the Council of at least
£335,000 per annum for several years to come.

The cost of issuing rates relief to a business is split between the
Council and Central Government. So, by offering the business
£315,000 the actual cost to the Council will be
£157,500.
