Purpose

At its June 2026 meeting, Executive Board is expected to make a decision on the proposal to amalgamate Yeadon Westfield Infant and Junior Schools from 1 September 2026. 

Both schools currently run with separate budgets. If the proposal to amalgamate was approved, the junior school would close at the end of August 2026 and the infant school would change its age-range to become a through primary. It is proposed that the junior school’s formula funding for the remainder of the financial year (approx. £642,000.00) would be transferred to the infant school (would be called Yeadon Westfield Primary School from 1 September 2026) to pay for staffing/running costs from 1 September 2026 until the school receives the formula funding for the year 2027/28.

Decision

The decision maker intends to approve the recommendations set out in the report attached with effect from the decision date.
