Purpose
Brief Description
The existing contract with Comfort Call Limited to provide care and support at the Extra Care scheme Gascoigne House, Middleton is due to expire on 17th October 2026. Leeds City Council holds nominations to all 60 apartments with Housing Leeds as the landlord. Commissioning officers intend to utilise the option to extend for 24 months meaning the contract would expire on 17th October 2028. Officers will use the extension period to undertake further consultation and engagement around the future delivery of services at the scheme.
Impact On Wards
Gascoigne House is situated in Middleton in the Middleton Park Ward but has citywide access for nominations to 60 apartments for adults aged 55+ and 12 bungalows.
Financial and procurement implications
The contract extension would have an estimated value of £754,908.36 for 24 months or £377,454.18 per annum based on projected demand based on recorded hours for the latter half of 2025/26. The estimate is based on the potential income via the contract from delivered planned care and support. This income is not guaranteed to the contractor, is not paid directly through the contract and is dependent on the nature of referrals and uptake of service. This falls under statutory expenditure and is funded through the community care and wellbeing budget.
Partnership working
This is joint working between Leeds City Council, Housing Leeds, the landlord, and Comfort Call Limited, the care provider.
