About
The Leicester Standards Committee oversees and promotes the council's arrangements for maintaining probity and high standards of governance in the conduct of business by members and officers. It advises Full Council and the City Mayor on corporate governance and the ethical framework, and monitors observance of Members' and officers' Codes of Conduct. The committee appoints a subcommittee to scrutinise and determine allegations of code breaches by councillors, and typically accepts its recommendations on remedies or sanctions. It also considers applications for exemption from political restrictions for council posts.
